My 40th Bday Charleston SC

I turned 40 which is a very scary number
that I never wanted to get to but it's here
My friends at school but a balloon in front of my
classroom so of course all my students were making me cards
all day long and then my sisters made me this amazing bouquet with a zillion
gift cards and chocolate :) I was very grateful and surprised! And excited to go shopping
of course

my parents took me to Flemings for a nice dinner with the kids
but we didn't get any pics and then the night before Rick and I went on a trip
we opened presents as a family and Rick got me new diamond earrings
that I had to get broken last year with my surgery.

Kellan's face haha is he my boyfriend or son?

my huge bucket list place is Charleston SC
I've just always loved the idea of South Carolina
and always dreamed of living there one day so that's where I
decided to go on my birthday. It was a crazy fast trip all the way on the
other side of the country and we definitely needed a few more days but I wanted to
be there on my bday. I took Thursday and Friday off of work and you would have thought the world
ended,  I got a new student, missed class pictures, and my substitute was not coping with that well
so that was a bummer, I had more anxiety about work than being away from the kids..
annoying, guess that's why I wait until the summer to go places

we took a red eye and were on the ground running from the time
we got there until we left. I wanted to see everything and we tried!

Charleston is amazing , the food is sooo good
this is an entire crap and yes I ate the legs and they were amazing!

shrimp filled corndogs and I had shrimp and grits too

we stayed at a little bed and breakfast.. It had fresh breads,
quiche, and fruits in the morning and then wine and cheese in the afternoons
It was also adorable
view from the hotel terrace
we went to an actual plantation where they had the slave houses
and were still doing cotton and it was really interesting to see
the history of everything, and it was beautiful

I also wanted to go to all the spots from the Notebook
movie and this was Allie's parents' house sooo cool

 canoe scene from the movie

pictures do not do it justice there

I think Rick thought it was funny that I had the whole trip planned
out but I was researching for months and really wanted to see everything
including going to Sullivan's Island where Edgar Allen Poe has a restaurant-
I love poetry so this was really cool to me , it was also my favorite beach and
I could definitely retire here.

we found this cute note Mia wrote to us before we left and
I thought it was just precious, she is just so mature and such a big help!

my friend sent me this while we were away...

 I just love this beach!!
Sullivan's Island

old jail where they killed children, women
and men, it's supposedly haunted and you can
go through it .

so much shopping cute little boutiques

and churches

this is the movie theater from the Notebook

 old firehouse

eating famous pineapple cake , we didn't get a pic!!

hotel we stayed at night

I snuck to the house where Noah built Allie from the Notebook
but you had to be in the actual water to get a front view

so pretty

Rick really wanted to see an alligator and he did!
Several, they are everywhere just right in front of hotels
This is near Kiawah island which was amazing and Seabrook Island

Then we drove to Savannah Georgia and
went to the park where Forrest Gump was filmed

 super pretty there too

there were tons of signs by the beaches that you couldn't go
on the dunes because there are deadly snakes!

I took this pic for Kellan- we had a great time exploring and I loved it
there, I think I even convinced Rick that we might want to live there or somewhere
near one day, by the water... Kids were spoiled by Grandma M,
they went to Dumbo, got stuffed animals and ate yummy food all weekend
WE couldn't have done it without her, we are very lucky to have her.
I came home 4 pounds more and Rick stayed the same even though he literally ate
his way through the city haha
