Valentine's day and more

A funny story: Mia's preschool teacher pulled Rick
aside to tell him that there's this new boy in the class and
Mia acts very strange around him, she won't go near him or anything.
So they asked her and she said, "Miss Debbie, do you remember when
he tried to sneak out of the classroom that one day? I'm still just trying to figure
this kid out, he makes me a little bit nervous." haha! She's got the cop intuition already?
OMG we were dying :)

Mia started Valentine's day delivering a valentine to Grandpa M
She sat and made valentines for all her cousins and grandparents. Then she helped
me with my card to Rick and we were trying to think of what why we are thankful for him.
It was so funny, she's like thanks for going to COSTCO (really loudly), cleaning up Bent's poop, making
mom eggs in the mornin, doing the dishes, protecting the living room,
 it was sooo cute!

Off to her Valentine party! Even though she doesn't normally go
to preschool on Tuesday, she could go to the party as long as dad took
her, so he did and she was so happy about that. She kept telling him thanks a hundred
times. I'm sure you can guess the kind of cards she brought the kids- Yep Cars ones
and we made some tasty homemade sugar cookies too. On Monday, she could
bring in a special snack, so we did chocolate covered strawberries with sprinkles and it
was a hit.

Mia with her Valentine box ready to do her exchange

Playing with dinosaurs before the party. I guess she was teaching
the other kids what the names of the dinosaurs were.
a little heart activity

Always very proud. I guess her teacher Miss Debbie
told Rick today during the party that Mia is her little teacher's pet when she's there.
That definitely doesn't surprise us, my sister Bre even said,
"Like mother like daughter." haha :)

Outside playing

Mia with her little friend Lucy

Rick took a picture of her planet she had to do for homework.
Of course it was called Planet Red and it was made up of
mostly dinosaurs and cars

Time for pizza and fruit!

She had a blast and Rick made it without a headache.
After her nap, she had to show me each valentine card.
It was pretty fun!

For dinner tonight, Mia wanted heart shaped spaghetti so
that's what we did. I set it up all fancy like she was at a restaurant
since it's always just Mia and I at night, we made it fun :)

And of course Mater juice box ( is this phase ever going to end)

and for dessert

End of the day: Mia listening to a Cars book that her dad
recorded for Valentine's day. She LOVED it! I always remember
my dad giving me something for Valentine's day every year until
I was married. It was very special to know that your dad is always your
valentine no matter what is going on in your life and I think it's
important for Mia to feel that same love from her dad. She was
so funny making him his Valentine card and wouldn't write "dad" on it.
She wanted me to help her write "Rick." Too cute!

On Saturday we went to the Children's museum to
their new Curious George exhibit and Curious was
there! She was very excited, and of course I didn't have
my camera so the pic didn't turn out very good.

This weekend we are going to the Fresh Beat Band concert so
stay tuned :)

Mia learns so many songs in preschool that I had to share
one of them. It's called Teeny Bay. Enjoy :)
It goes like this if you can't hear:
I had a little turtle, his name is Teeny Bay,
I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
he drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap
Now he's home safe in bed  with bubbles down his throat
Bubbles bubbles bubbles
bubbles bubbles bubbles
bubbles bubbles bubbles
POP!

Finally almost February

Mia before preschool: every time Rick
picks Mia up from school and asks her how her day was, she says,
GRRREAT!. So cute. Whatever they are learning about, she gets really into it,
right now it's planets and she already has them memorized and figured out. Too funny!
She is still very obsessed with cars, in fact Saturday morning, all she wanted Rick to do was
show her the engines of our Honda, Ford, and Rick's Chevy work car. soooo funny!

Grandpa B's bday party: Yes we are lucky we live where the grandparents
do on both sides actually. It's something we never take for granted and we love
having them here! We went to Outback for dinner and came home and did presents and cake.

Wow look at all those candles! Aunt Brooke sent this funny card of a really old lady
in a swimsuit and Mia just couldn't get over it. She just kept staring at it and finally said,
"Now that is scary!" It was hilarious! We were just glad she didn't think it looked like any of us.
haha!

Scott, Hailey, and Ari sent a video singing Happy Birthday and Mia
was so touched by it. She told my dad that we should've had it playing while the rest
of us were singing. She had to listen to it 3 or 4 times and kept kissing on my dad.
Such a love bug!

I have to warn you about the next picture. Mia has been pulling
this popeye strange pirate face when she's mad and it's downright
ugly. Haha. The other day at dance, I guess Rick poked his head in to tell
her to behave and she came right up to the glass and gave her stink face in front
of all the moms. Rick said it was embarassing.

This isn't even how bad it gets. Notice the one eye is smaller

Still not as bad, my dad wanted to participate

This is pretty much it. We don't even know how she closes
only one eye, it's just so strange!

We went to BJs for lunch on Saturday and I took some pics

One minute nice

Here's popeye again!!

back to nice

Then she got ahold of my camera and took these

this is funny- see all those alcohol bottles in the background?
Well every time Mia comes to BJs, she thinks they are shampoo
bottles and that they are beautiful. It is so funny. Aww to be
innocent!

We got home and she wanted to learn how to fold socks

my little organizer

my cousin Nate visited from Tiawan and brought
his adorable girlfriend-it was so great to see him.
We've always been very close.

This was her first time in the US and Mia thought she looked like the
character on a chinese cartoon she loves, so she kept asking her how to
say things in Chinese and then Mia would tell her words like Ye Ye (grandpa)
in Chinese, it was cute. She was impressed that we had a chinese cartoon.

We took Mia bowling on Monday for the first time
since it was Martin Luther King Day and we both had it off.

She had a great time!

Dad was being very patient!

picking her ball

watching the ball...

throwing the ball down the lane

Spock absolutely loves getting into things..
Speaking of that, the other day, Mia was trying to drink her
milk and the cat came over and tried to drink it, so I hear Mia
say, "You BLOCKHEAD!!" I was dying laughing but thinking oh boy
I guess she won't be watching so much Charlie Brown. You would think
old school cartoons are a little better, but apparently not. It was a pretty
fitting name for him, so funny!!

And the cat always climbs in my dryer right when the
clothes are done because it's nice and warm.

Mia and her bear playing sleep over

bear all comfy

Does anyone else's kids put together pretend birthday
parties for their stuffed animals? She did this all herself
as well as wrap some presents for bear to unwrap. Then we
all had to go to her party to celebrate. It was super cute!!

Boring January

January is not my favorite month, but here is Mia and I
on a cute little train in Town Center. It's super fun and goes
around the whole outside shops. Mia has been busy learning about
planets at preschool which is right up her alley. She really likes planets
and even had a homework assignment to make her own planet. You could
probably guess but she named it after a Disney Car guy: the Red planet
and it consisted of cars and dinosaurs, oh and a few fish. Sounds interesting to
me. I let her do the whole thing (I swear) even though the teacher in me wanted
it perfect. Mia's diet still consists of cottage cheese and cantaloupe these days which fruit
like that is kind of hard to get in the winter where it tastes good. She will go through 2 a week on her own.
She is also really into boiled eggs, but she calls them "spoiled " eggs which is cute!
She's also been really into Charlie Brown movies and cracking up at them. I told Rick
it actually makes sense  because the whole cartoon is witty and sarcastic which she definitely can be.
Nothing much else , just cold outside and nothing to do!

I don't have any new pics, because I think after Christmas, we are in such a picture overload, that we need to take a break. I do have a funny story that I need to record. We went to the Fashion Show mall to return some boots Rick got me for Christmas and Mia wanted to "just look" in Build a Bear. She was being so good just walking around with her bear and trying on little outfits, then putting them back and going on to the next. For those that don't know, they are VERY expensive clothes for stuffed animals. Anyway, this little girl about 5 years old of course had a handful of clothes for her bear ( and didn't seem to have a limit) came up to Mia and asked, " How come you don't have any clothes for your bear?" in a snotty little voice. Mia replied with, " Actually I ordered this, this, this, and this (as she was pointing to various items) and they are being delivered to my house in a few days." WAY TO GO MIA!!! You told her!! She is so witty! If there is a way to solve a problem, even if it's making up an elaborate story, she will do so. I was so proud of her,  I ended up letting her pick one thing for her bear and of course it was a Lightning McQueen slipper set. I hope this CARS obsession settles down for her bday! I want to do something girlie :)
